SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shaanxi Weihe Coal Chemical shut down its 200,000 tonne/year methanol unit at Weinan in Shaanxin province on 16 January due to some mechanical issue, a company source said on Wednesday.
No other details were immediately available and the source did not give a specific restart date.
The company has a separate 400,000 tonne/year methanol unit at the same site, which is running at almost full capacity, with a daily output of 1,000 tonnes, the source added.
The product from the 400,000 tonne/year methanol unit is largely used to produce a daily average output of 300 tonnes of dimethyl ether (DME).
