SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical restarted its 600,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Ningbo on 14 January after completing repairs on a faulty line, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.
The PTA unit at Ningbo in Zhejiang province was shut on 9 January, because of a faulty transmission line, the source added.
While the faulty transmission line did not have a huge impact on the unit’s production capacity, the producer decided to shut the entire unit down before any power failure occurred, the source said.
The PTA unit’s shutdown did not affect the prices in the PTA spot market and supply is said to be stable, according to the source.
