Japan's PVC production increased by 4.2% in December 2012 - VEC

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) rose by 4.2% year on year to 112,204 tonnes in December 2012, official data by the Vinyl Environmental Council (VEC) showed on Wednesday.

Production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), a feedstock of PVC, was also up in December, according to separate VEC data.

The country’s domestic shipments of PVC increased by 1.6% to 82,066 tonnes in December from the same period a year earlier, while exports fell by 4.4% to 21,293 tonnes, the first data showed.

Japan’s production of VCM was up by 34% year on year to 195,236 tonnes in December, while exports more than doubled to 48,341 tonnes, according to the council.
