US ethanol stocks increase even as production, imports fall

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethanol stocks surged by 500,000 bbl even though production and imports decreased, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday.

Ethanol stocks for the week that ended on 11 January were at 20.4m bbl, up from 19.9m bbl the previous week.

Meanwhile, ethanol production was at 784,000 bbl/day, down from 826,000 bbl/day the previous week.

Ethanol production is down 16.7% from 941,000 bbl/day in the same week a year ago.

Imports decreased to 27,000 bbl, down from 52,000 bbl a week earlier.
