US jet fuel consumption falls by 7.8%, inventories gain 2%

HOUSTON (ICIS)--A drop in US jet fuel consumption rates led to higher inventories for the week ended 11 January, a government agency’s report showed on Wednesday.

Jet fuel inventories gained 80,000 bbl to 40.4m bbl, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Consumption rates were at 1.292m bbl/day, 110,000 bbl/day lower than the previous week’s rate of 1.402m bbl/day, the EIA said.

Jet fuel production held mostly steady, gaining just 6,000 bbl/day to a rate of 1.517m bbl/day.
