SINGAPORE (ICIS) – South Korea’s Lotte Chemical Corp plans to take its 650,000 tonne/year No 3 purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit off line on 20 or 21 January for short maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.
The unit will be shut for five to seven days, the source said.
The maintenance was originally planned in March, but has been brought forward because of some facility issues, he added.
The shutdown of No 3 will not have much impact on supply as the company has recently restarted its 400,000 tonne/year No 2 PTA unit on 5-6 January after 3.5 months of shutdown because of poor margins, the source said.
