LONDON (ICIS)--First-quarter European glycerine contract prices have had mixed outcomes, according to ICIS data late on Wednesday.
First-quarter refined vegetable glycerine contract prices were assessed at €730-780/tonne ($973-1,040/tonne) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), down by €40-50/tonne, on the back of improved supply following a tight and volatile fourth quarter.
Some buyers had hoped that the first quarter would bring larger decreases, but firm crude glycerine prices limited any price drops.
However, first-quarter tallow glycerine contracts have firmed by €20/tonne to €700-750/tonne FD NWE, with one source attributing increases to a strong demand from the anti-freeze sector.
