UPR producer Reichhold to close New Jersey plant on storm damage

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Reichhold is closing its Newark plant in New Jersey in the aftermath of damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, the US unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) producer said on Thursday.

The plant produces alkyd resins for the coatings industry, a company spokesperson said.

Reichhold said Newark production, produces alkyd resins for the coatngs industry was  moved temporarily to its other manufacturing sites in North America after the storm hit the US northeast in late October.

“We have now determined that there is capacity to satisfy customer needs within the remaining Reichhold facilities in the near term,” the company said.
