HOUSTON (ICIS)--KBR won a contract to provide licencing and engineering services for Cambodian Petrochemical Company’s (CPC) veba combi cracker (VCC) unit in the Kampong Som industrial area, the US firm said on Thursday.
China’s Tianjin Petrochemical Engineering Design will build the 1.2m tonne/year VCC unit, which will process refinery vacuum residues into high value naptha and Euro 5 diesel products, KBR said.
“The high residue conversion and finished products quality will significantly improve the economics of our facility,” said CPC CEO Li Chengchun. “VCC can process a wide range of residues and fuel oil, which greatly enhances our crude flexibility and had a big influence on the selection of our refinery configuration.”
CPC's refinery will be the first in Cambodia, KBR said.
China Perfect Machinery Industry Corp will build the refinery, which is expected to start up in 2015.
