Japan December MMA inventory grows 27.6% from November

BRISBANE (ICIS)--Japan’s methyl methacrylate (MMA) inventory in December increased by 27.6% from November, official data released on Friday showed.

As at end-December, the country’s MMA inventory stood at 19,196 tonnes, according to the Japan Petrochemical Industry Association (JPCA).

The country’s MMA output in December was up by 4,984 tonnes or 16% month on month at 36,143 tonnes, it said.

Japan can produce 554,000 tonnes/year of MMA, ICIS data showed.

In the week ended 11 January, MMA prices for iso-tank cargoes of 20-300 tonnes were at $2,150-2,170/tonne (€1,613-1,628/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) SE (southeast) Asia, unchanged from the last assessed price in December 2012, according to ICIS.
