TORONTO (ICIS)--SNC-Lavalin has changed its organisational structure and appointed a new senior executive, the Canada-based energy and petrochemicals engineering firm said on Friday.

SNC said it has created a new unit, Resources & Environment, which will include its chemicals and hydrocarbon businesses, as well as its mining activities. It will be SNC's largest business unit.

The unit will be based in London, UK, and will be headed by Neil Bruce, formerly chief operating officer (COO) of UK-based engineering group AMEC, SNC said. However, despite the unit's move to London, SNC will remain headquartered in Montreal.

SNC is headed by Robert Card, a former executive at US engineering firm CH2M Hill and former under secretary at the US Department of Energy. Card took over as CEO in October last year after the company’s former CEO resigned amid allegations of accounting irregularities.
