SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Jiangning Chemical plans to start up its 80,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant and related derivative units at Ningbo in Zhejiang province in March, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
The producer, which is a subsidiary of Zhejiang Jiangshan Chemical, expects to increase the units’ operating rates in June if the March start-up is successful, the source said.
A total of yuan (CNY) 1.6bn ($257m) was invested in the MA project and construction began in November 2011.
The MA plant’s derivative units can yield 70,000 tonnes/year of butanediol (BDO) equivalent product, according to the source.
