Bayer MaterialScience buys land for US facility expansion

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Bayer MaterialScience has purchased nearly 11 acres (4 ha) of land adjacent to its South Deerfield, Massachusetts, site for future expansion of its Functional Films NAFTA operations, the company announced on Tuesday.

The 147,000-square-foot (13,700 square-metre) South Deerfield facility manufactures and sells thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), polycarbonate (PC) and polycarbonate blend, as well as other specialty film and sheet for use in the medical, automotive, sports/recreation and safety industries, among others.

“Bayer MaterialScience is committed to its specialty films business in North America, and this land purchase supports our future growth plans for this important region,” said Shaun Gaus, general manager of Functional Films NAFTA for Bayer MaterialScience.

Bayer MaterialScience is a producer of polymers and high-performance plastics in North America and is part of the global Bayer MaterialScience business, with approximately 14,800 employees at 30 production sites around the world.
