HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene production in December totalled 884m lb (400,976 tonnes), a 1.8% increase from 868m lb in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Thursday.
However, production in December by volume fell by 4.2% from 923m lb in November, while dropping by 7.3% when output is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson Report.
US crackers operated at 90.4% of capacity in December, down from 94.6% in November and from 94.1% in December 2011, according to the report.
The reduction in December came as a result of multiple outages, including one planned turnaround and eight unplanned shutdowns, the report said.
