SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Dongyue Chemical plans to shut its 280,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant in Shandong province next week, a company source said on Friday.
The maintenance will last about three weeks and the plant will be restarted after the Lunar New Year holiday, the source said, but did not give any specific dates. The holiday falls on 9-15 February this year.
The company is reducing the operating rate to prepare for the maintenance and the plant is running at 40% capacity currently, the source said, without giving further details.
The company offered 32% liquid membrane caustic soda at yuan (CNY) 1,875/tonne ($301/tonne) and 50% liquid membrane caustic soda at CNY2,100/tonne on 25 January, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
