SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate plans to take its 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) unit at Yanshan in Beijing off line in end-February or early March for annual maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The turnaround for the BPA unit is expected to last for one month, the source added.

Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate shut its downstream 30,000 tonne/year No 2 polycarbonate (PC) unit in early December last year, while its 30,000 tonne/year No 1 PC unit has been off line since 23 October.

The producer has not given definite dates for the units’ restart, the source said.

The company is a joint venture between Chinese major Sinopec and Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics.
