TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan's production of caustic soda increased by 2.1% year on year to 305,521 tonnes in December 2012, industry figures showed on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the country's domestic shipments of caustic soda totalled 251,837 tonnes in December, an 8.8% decrease year on year, according to the Japan Soda Industry Association (JSIA).
Exports of caustic soda rose by 22% to 35,103 tonnes in December compared to the same period in 2011, the data showed.
Japan's output of soda ash fell by 11% year on year to 29,612 tonnes in December 2012, while domestic shipments were down by 13% to 27,018 tonnes, based on the statistics.
