HOUSTON (ICIS)--US styrene production and inventories in the fourth quarter of 2012 were mixed year over year, according to data released by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Thursday.
Q4 styrene production was at 2.4bn lb, up by 8% from 2.2bn in the fourth-quarter of 2011.
Q4 2012 styrene production was also up by 8% from 2.2bn lb the previous quarter.
For the year, US styrene production was at 9.2bn lb, up by 6% from 8.7bn lb in 2011.
Meanwhile, Q4 styrene inventories were at 501m lb, down by 6% from 532m lb the same time a year earlier.
Q4 inventories were also down by 4% from 521m lb in the third quarter.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake Chemical – all of which contributed production figures included in the AFPM survey.
