US Q4 propylene production falls 5.9% year on year - AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US fourth-quarter propylene production totalled 7.285bn lb (3.30m tonnes), a 5.9% drop from 7.739bn lb one year earlier, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said on Thursday.

However, propylene output in the fourth quarter rose by 0.6% from 7.240bn lb in the third quarter of 2012, the group said.

US propylene production in 2012 totalled 29.026bn lb, down by 7.9% from 31.501bn lb in the previous year, according to the AFPM.

The figures include production of refinery-sourced and co-product propylene.

US propylene inventories in the fourth quarter stood at 1.495bn lb, falling by 15% from 1.758bn lb in the third quarter of the year. Inventory data for the fourth quarter of 2011 was not available.

AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
