HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in the fourth quarter totalled 13.758bn lb (6.24m tonnes), up by nearly 3% from 13.366bn lb one year earlier, the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said on Thursday.
Fourth-quarter ethylene output rose by 1% from 13.613bn lb in the third quarter of 2012, the group said.
Despite the fourth-quarter increases, US ethylene production for 2012 totalled 52.862bn lb, down by 1.6% from 53.725bn lb in the previous year, according to the AFPM.
US ethylene inventories in the fourth quarter stood at 943m lb, falling by 37% from 1.508bn lb year on year, while rising by 12% from 840 lb in the third quarter of the year.
AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
