ORLANDO (ICIS)--Attendees at the annual convention of the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) this week discussed targets to improve hygiene in US schools.

Petra Stovickova of Procter & Gamble’s consumer affairs and outreach group presented information focused on the ACI’s Principles of Sustainability programme, which incorporates a long-term project aimed at improving hand hygiene habits to curtail absenteeism, and functions in cooperation with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to offer training and educational materials.

The ACI partnered with others, including the CDC, to bring aid to victims of Hurricane Sandy by gathering gloves, mittens and hand soap to send to afflicted areas in New Jersey and the northeastern US.

Formerly known as the Soap and Detergent Association, the ACI’s annual convention brings together members of the soap and detergent industry, along with oleochemical and synthetic producers of key surfactant ingredients such as fatty alcohols, acids and amine additive ingredients.

The ACI meeting ends today.
