SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) has restarted its 280,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at Mailiao on 2 February as scheduled, a company source said on Monday.
The ACN produced by FPC is mainly used to provide feedstock for its downstream acrylic fibre (AF) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plants, the source said.
However, given the ample stock in the past months, the shutdown has no effect on the downstream plants, the source added.
The company owns plants with capacities of 70,000 tonnes/year for AF and 390,000 tonnes/year for ABS, which are located at the same site. It also has a capacity of 450,000 tonnes/year of ABS at Ningbo city in China.
