TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Daicel on Wednesday posted an 18% year-on-year increase in its April-December net profit to yen (Y) 11.8bn ($126m) on the back of improved performance in the cellulose and the resins segments.
Operating profit for the nine months to 31 December rose by 16% to Y19.9bn from the previous year, while net sales were up by 4.1% to Y265.7bn.
Operating profit in the cellulose segment increased by 78% year on year to Y9.61bn, while net sales rose by 3.4% to Y54.9bn because sales of tow for cigarette filters for overseas customers were higher than the year before, Daicel said.
