SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Tangshan Zhonghao Chemical is expected to start up its new 40,000 tonne/year polyacetal (POM) facility in Tangshan city, Hebei province in 2014, a company source said on Wednesday.
There was no firm date of the start-up as yet, the company source said.
The new facility will mark the company’s first venture into the POM market. Market participants expect POM to have a similar growth rate to the country’s economy, given that the applications of POM are consumer-led. China’s official economic growth rate for 2012 was 7.8%.
POM is an engineering plastic commonly used in the manufacture of automobiles.
