EVENING SNAPSHOT - Americas Markets Summary

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Here is Wednesday’s end of day Americas oil and chemical market summary from ICIS.

CRUDE: Mar WTI: $96.62/bbl, down 2 cents; Mar Brent: $116.73/bbl, up 21 cents
NYMEX WTI crude futures experienced choppy trading action and posted light losses after falling sharply in response to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) weekly supply statistics showing a build in crude and gasoline inventories.

RBOB: Mar: $3.0397/gal, up 0.23 cent/gal
Reformulated blendstock for oxygen blending (RBOB) gasoline futures prices were slightly higher as the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report showed a less-than-expected build in gasoline inventories.

NATURAL GAS: Mar: $3.418/MMBtu, up 1.9 cents
NYMEX natural gas futures ended Wednesday higher for a third straight day, surging in the morning session before sliding nearer to the opening price later in the day. Prices were boosted by near-term weather forecasts predicting cold temperatures across the country’s biggest gas consumption regions through to the weekend.

ETHANE: lower at 25.875-26.125cents/gal
Ethane spot prices were slightly lower after gaining more than 2 cents/gal on Tuesday as it tracked weakness in crude and other energy commodities.

AROMATICS: toluene up at $4.35-4.50, mixed xylenes wider at $4.50-4.65/gal
Prompt toluene spot prices were up during the day, compared with $4.28-4.35/gal FOB the previous session. Meanwhile, mixed xylenes (MX) prices were discussed within a wider range compared with $4.50-4.55/gal FOB the previous session.

OLEFINS: ethylene lower at 63.125-63.500 cents/lb, RGP bid lower at 70 cents/lb
US ethylene for February was heard done lower at 63.125 and 63.500 cents/lb, lower on average from a deal done the previous day. February refinery-grade propylene (RGP) was heard bid at 70 cents/lb with no offers.
