TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Denki Kagaku Kogyo (Denka) reported on Thursday a 9.3% year-on-year decline in its nine-month net profit to yen (Y) 8.90bn ($95m), with net sales falling by 8.4%.
Net sales for April-December 2012 stood at Y253.8bn, the company said in a statement.
The company’s operating profit the period fell by 6.6% to Y15.6bn.
In the organic chemicals segment, operating profit shrank to Y88m from Y3.44bn in the previous corresponding period, as net sales declined by 17% to Y102.3bn, it said.
Denka said that polystyrene sales at its Singapore subsidiary declined.
