SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Asahi Glass Co Ltd’s 200,000 dmt/year caustic soda unit in Chiba prefecture will be taken off line for a scheduled turnaround in the middle of this month, a company source said.
No precise date has been fixed yet, though the turnaround is expected to start somewhere by the “end of next week”, said the source.
The plant will remain off line for approximately a month until mid-March, the source added.
The shutdown is unlikely to have a significant impact on the spot prices as Asahi Glass Co Ltd has not sold caustic soda cargoes in the spot market in January and February.
The source confirmed that the company did not have plans to sell caustic soda spot cargoes for March-loading as well.
