LONDON (ICIS)--Bunge Limited on Thursday named Soren Schroder, current head of the US-headquartered agribusiness company’s North American unit, as its new group CEO.
The Bunge North America chief will replace outgoing CEO Alberto Weisser following his retirement on 1 June this year. Schroder is expected to become a director before Weisser’s retirement date, while Weisser has been appointed as executive chairman until the end of the year, Bunge added.
Weisser joined Bunge in 1993 and became its CEO in 1999, taking the company public in 2011. Since Bunge listed in New York, its enterprise value has increased by 5.5 times, and its share price has grown by 500%, the company said.
“Under [Weisser’s] leadership, Bunge became a public company and grew from a regional operation to a global player, active in over 40 countries and with leading positions in key products and markets,” said Bunge deputy chairman L Patrick Lupo.In his current role, Schroder has been in charge of Bunge’s operations in the US, Canada and Mexico.
