HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US February mixed xylenes (MX) contract was confirmed to have settled at $4.46/gal late Thursday, down by 20 cents/gal from January, according to trade participants.

The decline was in line with market expectations from earlier in the week, as trade sources noted weaker prices in other aromatics markets. Demand also came off slightly in January.

Major xylene producers in the US include BP, Chevron Phillips Chemical, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills Resources and LyondellBasell.
