TOKYO (ICIS)--Japanese chemical producer Kaneka Corp recorded on Friday a nine-month net profit of yen (Y) 6.62bn ($70.8m), more than a double from Y3.01bn the year before, on increased profits in the chemicals, expandable plastics and products, synthetic fibres and other segments.
Operating profit for the nine months to 31 December 2012 rose by 24% year on year to Y11.8bn, while net sales stood at Y353.3bn, up by 0.4%.
Operating profit in the chemicals segment increased by 36% to Y2.81bn from the previous year, while net sales were up by 1.1% to Y70.1bn because sales volume of special PVC increased in both the Japanese and overseas markets, Kaneka said in a statement.
