Brazil Braskem expects resin demand to rise 4% in 2013

CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazil-based polyolefins producer Braskem expects resin demand to rise by 4% in 2013, according to information made available on Friday.

 According to the company, demand for resins should increase by 4% in 2013, year on year. 

“Brazil’s resins market registered total sales of 1.2m tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2012”, the company said in a statement.

The company’s thermoplastic-resin sales in 2012 rose 10%, while its market share reached 70%.

For the fourth quarter, domestic demand for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) was 965,000, down 7% year on year.
