HOUSTON (ICIS)--Here is Friday’s end of day Americas oil and chemical market summary from ICIS.

CRUDE: Mar WTI: $95.72/bbl, down 11 cents; Mar Brent: $118.90/bbl, up $1.66
NYMEX WTI crude futures posted light losses in pre-weekend profit taking after rising sharply early on, tracking a rally in the stock market and a surge in gasoline (RBOB) futures. A string of upbeat economic indicators such as a rise in Chinese oil imports also provided support, but the upside momentum ran out of steam. Brent continued to outperform its American counterpart as the market remained sensitive to the risk of wider supply disruptions.

RBOB: Mar: $3.0588/gal, up 5.89 cents/gal
Reformulated blendstock for oxygen blending (RBOB) gasoline futures prices rebounded after falling on Thursday. RBOB rose as traders rushed to buy gasoline ahead of the snowstorm in the northeast.

NATURAL GAS: Mar: $3.272/MMBtu, down 1.3 cents
NYMEX natural gas futures extended Thursday’s losses into a second day despite changing weather forecasts that offered signs of improved near-term demand fundamentals. Traders continued to focus on disappointing consumption data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

ETHANE: higher at 24.50-24.75 cents/gal
Ethane spot prices traded slightly higher than the 24.50 traded on Thursday after settlements in the energy markets were mixed.

AROMATICS: mixed xylenes up at $4.64-4.66/gal, toluene up at $4.44-4.46/gal
Prompt mixed xylenes (MX) spot prices were discussed within a higher range during the day, sources said. The range was up from the previous day’s band of $4.60-4.65/gal FOB (free on board). Meanwhile, prompt n-grade toluene reportedly traded at $4.45/gal FOB, sources said. The reported deal was up from $4.39-4.41/gal FOB the previous day.

OLEFINS: ethylene wider at 61.75-64.00, RGP higher at 73.5 cents/lb
February ethylene bids and offers moved to 61.75 cents/lb and 64.00 cents/lb, wider than the range of deals done during the week at 62.50-63.50 cents/lb. February RGP was done at 73.5 cents/lb, higher than a deal on Tuesday at 73.0 cents/lb.
