TOKYO (ICIS)-- Japanese refiner TonenGeneral Sekiyu KK posted a 59% decrease in its full-year net profit to yen (Y) 54.8bn from the previous year due to an impact of the dissolution of its battery separator film joint venture, the company said on Thursday.

Operating profit for the full year to 31 December 2012 plummeted by 87% year on year to Y27.3bn ($292m), while net sales rose by 4.8% to Y2,804.9bn.

Operating profit in the chemical segment slumped by 68% to Y1.39bn from a year earlier, due to weak margins for commodity products, while net sales stood at Y389.1bn, a 36% increase, TonenGeneral said.
