CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazilian sales of fertilizer increased by 4% in 2012 year on year, from 28.3m to 29.5m tonnes, according to information made available on Thursday by the Fertilizer Distribution Association (Anda).
According to Anda, production of fertilizer intermediates decreased 2% in 2012, from 9.9m tonnes to 9.7m tonnes.
Imports of fertilizer intermediates fell 2%, from 19.9m tonnes in 2011 to 19.5m tonnes in 2012, it said.
Brazilian exports of fertilizers and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium formulations decreased 23% in 2012, from 675,000 tonnes to 517,000 tonnes, reaching its second worst performance since 2009, when it reached 426,000 tonnes.
