NEW YORK (ICIS)--The February contract price for US orthoxylene (OX) settled at 71.50 cents/lb ($1,576/tonne, €1,182/tonne) FOB (free on board), a rollover from January, sources confirmed on Friday.
Sources did not say what the reason for the rollover was.
Meanwhile, US mixed xylenes (MX) saw no real price direction at this time. Trading was thin during this week, but price discussions were volatile, as assessed by ICIS.
The monthly OX pricing trend is tied in with the MX market, as well as movement in toluene and benzene.
US spot OX prices were notionally unchanged at 69-71 cents/lb FOB export on the back a similar situation in Asian spot OX prices.
Major US OX producers include ExxonMobil Chemical and Flint Hills Resources.
