China January PE, PP imports estimated at 1.31m tonnes – traders

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China is estimated to have imported a combined 1.31m tonnes of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) in January, up by 7.8% from the previous month, local traders said on Sunday.

Some 768,000 tonnes of PE and 540,000 tonnes of PP were brought into the country last month, they said.

Compared with the official data for December 2012, January 2013 PE imports increased by 9.4%, while PP imports were up by 5.7%, traders said.

China Customs' data on January imports will be released on around 24 February.
