ConocoPhillips gets approval to resume production at China oilfield

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--ConocoPhillips China (COPC) announced over the weekend that it has received approval from China’s State Oceanic Administration (SOA) for gradual resumption of normal production operations at Peng Lai 19-3 (PL19-13) oilfield in the Bohai Bay.

Productions at the PL19-3 oilfield were halted in September 2011 following oil spills.

The SOA approval followed the recent approval of the revised environmental impact assessment and the revised overall development program, COPC, operators of the field, said in a statement.

The PL19-3 oilfield is 49% owned by COPC and 51% by China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC).
