LONDON (ICIS)--SIBUR has registered two new subsidiary companies in Turkey and Ukraine to specialise in trading basic polymers, the Russia-based petrochemicals major said on Monday.

The two companies, SIBUR International Trading Istanbul and SIBUR International Trading Kiev, will be based in the two countries’ capital cities, and will target manufacturers of polypropylene (PP) bags and woven bags, rugs, biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP), non-woven fabrics and compounds, SIBUR said.

The Turkey-based company will sell PP produced by the new Tobolsk-Polymer Complex in western Siberia, Russia. Expected to come on stream this year, the facility is to produce 510,000 tonnes/year of propylene, to be converted into 500,000 tonnes/year of PP.

The new Ukraine-based company will supply products produced at Tobolsk-Polymer following its commissioning, as well as from SIBUR basic polymers production subsidiary Tomskneftekhim, SIBUR added.

“The new trading arms will enhance SIBUR’s flexibility in adjusting to clients’ needs, give the company extra competitive edge in strategic markets, and increase sales through access to end consumers,” the company said.

The companies are being set up by SIBUR International, a provider of trading and logistics services established by the company in 2011, following its acquisition of liquefied petroleum gas trading company CITCO in 2009. SIBUR International also manages SIBUR International Trading (Shanghai), which sells petrochemical products to Chinese companies.
