SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Chongqing Tianyuan Chemical shut its 200,000 tonne/year caustic soda production in southwestern China on Tuesday, a company source said.
The company’s two caustic soda plants in Chongqing – each with a 100,000 tonne/year capacity – will be down for 12 days of scheduled maintenance, with production loss estimated at 5,400 tonnes, the source said.
Prior to the shutdown, the plants were running at full capacity, the source said.
Chongqing Tianyuan was offering caustic soda at yuan (CNY) 3,000/dmt ($480/dmt) EXW (ex-works) on Tuesday, the source said.
