Japan's naphtha imports decrease 5.6% in January

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s naphtha imports for ethylene production decreased by 5.6% month on month to 1.18m tonnes in January, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed late on Tuesday.

The country’s total naphtha imports for the petrochemical sector fell by 5.8% to $1.13bn in January from the previous month, based on the data.

The average price of naphtha stood at $955.3/tonne in January, a 0.6% decrease from December, according to the METI.
