SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Celanese is currently operating its 600,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant in Singapore’s Jurong Island at around 50% of capacity, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

Operations at the plant have been erratic since last year, according to the company’s buyers in southeast Asia.

In April and July 2012, the Singapore plant was taken off line because of an oversupply of acetic acid in the region.
