SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Changzhou Qinghong Chemical is operating its 50,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, at 50% of capacity following its restart on 20 February, a company source said on Thursday.
“We are currently running the plant at low operating rates and [we] expect to achieve on-spec production this weekend [23-24 February],” the source added.
The company shut the plant on 28 January on the back of high feedstock orthoxylene (OX) prices, which was two days ahead of the original shutdown plan, according to the source.
The restart may lead to an increase in PA supply in east China limitedly because of its small capacity, a market player said.
