SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Singapore Acrylic Acid plans to shut its 73,000 tonne/year crude acrylic acid (AA) facility in Jurong Island for an annual maintenance in July, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The AA unit will be shut for about three weeks for the maintenance works, the source said.
Toagosei, a joint-owner of Singapore Acrylic Acid, will also shut its acrylate esters facilities at the same site during the period of maintenance shutdown, the source added.
Toagosei’s Singapore facility is able to produce 60,000 tonnes/year of butyl acrylate, 10,000 tonnes/year of ethyl acrylate and 10,000 tonnes/year of methyl acrylate, according to a source familiar with the company’s capacity.
Other key producers of crude AA in the region include Malaysia’s BASF PETRONAS Chemicals, Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) and South Korea’s LG Chem.
