Japan January MMA inventory jumps 44.6% from December

BRISBANE (ICIS)--Japan’s methyl methacrylate (MMA) inventory in January increased by 44.6% from December, official data released on Thursday showed.

As at end-January, the country’s MMA inventory stood at 27,761 tonnes, according to the Japan Petrochemical Industry Association (JPCA).

Japan’s MMA output in December increased by 5,603 tonnes or 15.5% month on month to 41,746 tonnes, it said.

Japan can produce 554,000 tonnes/year of MMA.

In the week ended 15 January, MMA prices for iso-tank cargoes of 20-300 tonnes were at $2,150-2,170/tonne (€1,613-1,628/tonne) CFR (cost and freight) SE (southeast) Asia, unchanged from the previous week, according to ICIS.
