LONDON (ICIS)--Clariant has opened a new 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) plant at its facility in Tarragona, Spain, for the production of specialty polysulfonates, the Switzerland-based company said on Friday.
The plant, which was officially opened on 22 February, represents €16m ($21m) investment over two years, the company added.
The polymers produced at the plant will be employed by the company’s industrial and consumer specialties and oil and mining services divisions, with end-products including emulsifiers for face creams, as well as fluid loss control additives for well cements used in oil and gas drilling operations.
