5.7-magnitude earthquake hits eastern Japan; no tsunami warning

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 struck eastern Japan on Monday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake, which hit eastern Honshu at 16:23 hours local time (07:23 hours GMT), shook buildings in Tokyo but there were no reports of injuries or damage, according to media reports.

No tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, they added.
