HOUSTON (ICIS)—US ethylene production in January increased by 2.7% month on month, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Monday.
According to the firm’s Hodson Report, US January ethylene production totaled 4,649m lbs (2,109m tonnes), compared with December’s output of 4,528m lbs.
The daily average of ethylene production for January was estimated at 149.97m lbs, up from December’s average of 146.07m lbs/day.
The increase in ethylene production came from a decrease in cracker outages, as well as a full month of output from Dow Chemical’s St. Charles Olefins 2 cracker in Louisiana, the report said.
The company restarted the unit, which has an ethylene capacity of 380,000 tonnes/year, on 2 January after idling it for nearly four years.
