China’s Shaanxi Ronghe to start up new BDO, GBL units in August

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shaanxi Ronghe Group plans to start up its 120,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) plant and 20,000 tonne/year gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) plant at Shenmu, Shaanxi province, in August 2013, according to a statement from the company on Tuesday.

The construction of the two plants, with a total investment of yuan (CNY) 1.5bn ($240m), started in April 2012, the statement added.

BDO is a chemical intermediate used in the production of polymers, solvents and fine chemicals.

GBL has outlets in electronics and high-performance polymers production.
