LONDON (ICIS)--BASF has halted production at one of its adipic acid (ADA) lines in Ludwigshafen, Germany, for maintenance, a source at the chemicals major confirmed on Tuesday.
The maintenance will take offline approximately 25% of the plant’s nameplate capacity of 260,000 tonnes/year. The line will be brought back onstream in June, the source added.
The turnaround was originally scheduled for the third quarter, but has been brought forward because of poor ADA margins, the source said.
Between July 2011 and January 2013, ADA contract prices fell by €195-225/tonne ($257-296/tonne). During the period from July 2011 to February 2013, upstream benzene prices increased by €286/tonne.
