US March methanol contracts rise nearly 6% on SCC posting

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) raised its US March methanol contract by seven cents/gal to 153 cents/gal on Tuesday, joining Methanex who raised earlier today.

The March average of the US methanol contract range, 154 cents/gal, increased almost 6% over the February average of 145.5 cents/gal.

Methanex boosted its March contract by 10 cents/gal to 155 cents/gal, the highest monthly posting for the company in four years.

SCC posted 146 cents/gal for February. The US-based company’s March number is also its highest monthly posting in four years but still falls short of 155 cents/gal in September 2008, according to the company’s website.
